Las Vegas and Arizona

This post is about me and my family’s trip to Las Vegas, and to lots of places in Arizona when we used to live in America. This trip was before the Covid-19 pandemic, only a few days after it was discovered in China.

We reached a hotel at almost midnight after 6 hours of travel. The first place we visited was Hoover dam. We went there on the afternoon of the second day. It is a very famous dam in America, probably the most famous, which I have heard of for a very long time. We walked on the dam and looked over the edge. It  was so big, and the water looked like the most soothing shade of blue. Me and my family spent a lot of time there and took lots of photos. That night we went to a fancy casino called Aria; we took lots of photos there too. Then we walked in the Las Vegas Strip and saw the fake Statue of Liberty and Eiffel Tower. Later, we went to Caesar’s palace. It was a massive casino that had many fancy shops, even a chocolate fountain! It was so big that we got a little bit lost. We also went to another gigantic casino called Bellagio. It had a dancing water fountain show in its courtyard and I was just full of awe. After going exploring it, we went home and I ate pizza. After dinner, we went to the Venetian, and it was very elegant. We explored it thoroughly, and my parents ate their dinner at fancy restaurant in it.

One the third day, we went to Arizona. It was a long journey, and we passed through multiple states. We drove through the Sierra Nevada, deserts, and the Great Basin. That evening we reached a small town in Arizona called Page near Lake Powell where we stayed. Our room at the hotel had a great view of the desert. The following day, we went to see the Horseshoe Bend which was a meander of the Colorado river. It had an awesome view where we could see the entire horseshoe shape. The next place we had in our list was Bryce canyon, which was 4 hours further. Since it was winter, the top, which was where we stood, was covered in snow. The canyon, was part of the Giant Staircase, a landform made of canyons that look like stairs. However, due to the Earth's spherical shape, we were not able to see the lower end of the Grand Staircase. The canyon had very tall spires that were also covered in snow.

To my dismay, my family wasn't able to visit the Grand Canyon since it was too far away. We went back to Las Vegas on our last day. During our journey, we saw the entire Great Basin from a high point in Nevada. The following day, we went back to Las Vegas, then back to Jersey.
