ChatGPT stands for Chat Generated Pre-trained Transformer. It is a software called a chatbot capable of making conversations with people made by the artificial intelligence research laboratory OpenAI. It is built based on the GPT-3 family of language models. ChatGPT is fine tuned as an approach to transfer learning. Being such a prestigious AI, it has both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.

ChatGPT was introduced to the public as a prototype on November 30th, 2022, and unsurprisingly, accumulated lots of attention for its elaborate and communicative answers throughout several different categories of information. However, its factual accuracy kept changing at different times. This inefficiency was seen as a consequential disadvantage of the AI. Still, by the time ChatGPT had been released, OpenAI’s value had doubled to 29 billion dollars in USD.

ChatGPT has been trained using supervised and reinforced learning. Both of the methods required human trainers to help in improving the AI’s responses and conversations. In supervised learning, it was shown conversations of people on both sides, one as a trainer and the other as the AI, talking to each other. During the reinforced method, the humans ranked the conversations made by the model during a previous conversation. They used the ranked conversations to make the model better, and create more perfect models, which were fine-tuned even more by using repetitions of a model-free reinforcement learning algorithm called Proximal Policy Optimization, or PPO. This algorithm is useful to decrease money expense and benefits a part of an algorithm called a trust region policy optimization by nullifying computationally expensive operations that have a faster output. The ChatGPT models were trained in alliance with tech giant Microsoft, using its Azure supercomputing constitution. Its parent company gathers data from ChatGPT users to train it and fine-tune it even more. Its users have been given the option to upvote or downvote its responses, and they can also fill out a textbox to elaborate or give feedback.

As much as it is incredible, ChatGPT doesn’t have a consciousness or self-awareness.

ChatGPT has several benefits towards its existence. It has incredibly realistic and humane writing, and can translate languages, create summaries, and generate sentences. The AI can solve complex problems and is extremely efficient, which can be very useful in several kinds of industries. 

However, ChatGPT still has several drawbacks. For example, researchers have found a pattern in the chatbot where it uses phrases in a non-human way. Also ChatGPT can speak, but it can’t show any expression or emotion, which makes it seem like it's just a robot. Another thing is that ChatGPT does not give its own opinion on a subject that it has explained, but rather just summarizes the subject. The last disadvantage I'm going to give is that the AI is very organized and has clear logic, which makes it seem very inhuman, as humans make lots of mistakes.

To be honest, the disadvantages aren’t actually bad. They are related to talking exactly like a living and feeling person. ChatGPT is already very advanced, and if we didn’t need it to sound like a human, it would've been perfect already. I think ChatGPT is very cool and useful, even though it hasn’t fully accomplished its goals.
